Why I Don’t Have Package Pricing

When I was a teacher people would say things like:

😐 “Don’t smile for the first 9 weeks”

🙅‍♀️ “I’m not here to make friends”

😠 “I don’t care if they like me, I’m here to teach”

Ew. I always just smiled and nodded and then went and started learning how to do the stanky legg.

Gif of GSBoyz do the stanky legg.

A song that was all the rage back in 2008 when I was teaching. 🤣

I wasn’t workin’ on my Stanky Legg to be cool or make friends.

It was because I spent 8 hours a day with my students, and it was impossible for me to do that without getting to know them.

I listened to them. I asked questions. I paid attention. I cared about them.

Why am I saying all this? To impress you with my knowledge of early 2000’s rap? Nope.

It’s because I’ve realized I do the same thing with my clients.

I listen and I care about what they like, where they’re struggling, and I want to genuinely help them.

I totally consider my clients my friends and I enjoy them as humans.

The allure of package pricing

And speaking of clients, I’ve been racking my brain trying to get my custom projects into neat little packages so I could systematize my life a little more.

And this week I came to the realization that it’s just not gonna happen. And I’m actually kind of stoked about it.

It’s INCREDIBLY important for me to be transparent about my pricing, but… it also totally depends on what you want from me.

I want my clients to get exactly what they need from me, no more no less.

A pack of custom GIFs or a sticker design could be around $500. Whereas a website is going to be upwards of 5k.

And that’s why I do consult calls, so I can listen to what you need, and we can go from there.

Some people might say that’s not the most efficient way to run my business. But they might also be the same people who wouldn’t do the Stanky Legg with their students. I gotta be me. 🤷‍♀️

My clients come back to me again and again because I don’t push them into packages they don’t need.

And because they know I care about them. And (at least I think) they think of me as a friend too.

That DEFINITELY the kind of business I wanna run.

PS… if you have packages I’m not saying that you’re pushing people into things they don’t need. Lots of different services fit into packages seamlessly. And some people are more niched down than me. (I think we all know that already! 🤣) This is just what works for me in my business, and I’m just learning to love how I do things. Ya know?
