How to Create a More Personal Personal Brand

So I have this thing in my car where I can just say “Hey Spotify…” and then say whatever I want it to play.

The other day I said, “Hey Spotify, play songs by The Pixies” but I sorta choked on my spit when I said it. 😅

50 cent, rapper, gold cross chair, LA flat brim hat, pixes band

I think it thought I said “Fity” and it started playing, “Go, shawty, it’s your birthday… We gon’ party like it’s your birthday”

And I was like… 🤷‍♀️and enjoyed a lil’ 50 cent on my way home. It was the song I didn’t even know I needed at the time.

Here’s my point: Yes, I did want to listen to the Pixies, but I also wasn’t mad when In Da Club came on either.

I like late 80s early 90s alternative and I love a lil’ booty poppin’ hit from the early 2000s because I’m a multifaceted human being.

So are you. And so are your customers.

So when you’re making your content: you can 100000% be yourself. It’s ok to talk about lots of different things. Even if they don’t make sense right away.

That doesn’t mean you have to share everything. But just open up a lil’ and let people see your beautifully weird self enough so they can connect with YOU.

I mean, with all the AI floating around and the pressure to make more and more content, the world is becoming one giant repurposed pile of bland bullsh*t. (I said what I said. 😳) Tara McMullin and I talk about this very thing on this week’s podcast episode.

Every time I see something that says “You can write 100 social media captions in 5 minutes” I shudder to think about how boring those captions will be. Maybe that’s harsh, and maybe AI is better than I’m giving it credit for, but it’s how I feel about it.

But what if you infused your life and stories into your captions and they were totally awesome and totally you?

And what if you allowed yourself to just make less content, but make it amazing? 🤔

I’m working on a new audio course called Less Content, More Connection, and it’s going to be available as part of an open house I’m hosting for The Content Playhouse.

It’s going to be an entire day of coworking and content planning in September where you can plan out all the content you’re gonna create in Q4. So you’ll be planned out for the ENTIRE year! 🤯
