6 Questions to Discover Your Why

Episode #2 with Heather Lisle: Heather Lisle sits on a couch facing the camera wearing a cream colored jacket and bright salmon pink earrings. On the Imperfect Party podcast, we dive into 6 questions to discover your why.

Do you ever sit down and think, what the heck am I doing with my life?

Or I dunno, a global pandemic happens and everything in your world is turned upside down? Today I’m chatting with Heather Lisle who’s a business coach and consultant that can help you get to the root of your purpose.

She has a six step process to discover your why.

If you feel like you’ve spent most of your life trying to make other people happy, or are just going through the motions, it is time for you to meet my girl Heather. Let’s get to it.

Heather asks her clients a million questions so that she can really understand what her client is really looking to achieve. Sometimes our clients think they want to do x but really they might want to go in a different direction.

Her superpower is getting clarity for her clients and designing a strategic road map to get them there.

Her coaching style is based on her core values of her business. Integrity, passion, energy, impact, and connection. Connecting with others is the most important thing to her.  She feels if she can’t connect, she can’t serve them as much. But she’s not scared of giving a little tough love. But her tough love always comes from a place of love.

She spent over 20 years in the corporate world, but COVID brought that life to a screeching halt. While talking to a friend she came to the realization that she might make a great coach. She dove into the idea and started asking herself, “What do I really want?” “What makes me happy?” “What do I enjoy the most?”

She discovered that her why is witnessing the people she works with be able to solve a big problem and get a real sense of peace. The “why” is an ever-evolving process.

It takes a level of self-awareness, and you have to be real with yourself about what YOU really want. Not your friends, not your partner, not your family…what do YOU want? Get quiet with yourself.

The Six Questions:

1) Identify your strengths

2) What do you love to do?

3) What have you been complimented on in the past?

4) When people come to you for advice, what questions do they ask you?

5) In what ways are you considered a leader?

6) Why do you get out of bed in the morning?

Man, nothing like a global pandemic to make you have to majorly re-adjust what you’re doing with your life. Sometimes when stuff doesn’t go the way you planned it can be such a bummer, annoying, stressful, basically insert any terrible feeling in this spot. But…if you just try to think of it as a way to pivot into something else, you never know what could happen.

If you’re out there now just going through the motions, maybe it’s time to shake things up a bit. Have you ever really sat down and thought about what you’re TRULY passionate about? I know it’s hard for us moms especially to even go to the bathroom without being interrupted, let alone sit and really think about deep things.

Your next step:
